Rental Terms & Conditions
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before signing the rental agreement form. These terms and conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between the rental company (“we” or “us”) and the customer (“you” or “renter”). Wherever used herein, the term “equipment” includes any rental equipment, related accessories and/or parts. By renting from us, Dois Costas, Lda. (trading as COAST Supply Co.), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- Rental Eligibility
a. You must be at least 18 years old to rent equipment. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
b. You must have at least some competence and be familiar with the use of the equipment.
c. You must provide a valid identification document (e.g., passport, driver’s license, or national identity card) and a credit card for security purposes. - Rental Period
a. The rental period starts from the time you pick up the equipment and continues until the equipment is returned to our designated rental location.
b. Rental rates are calculated based on a daily or hourly basis, as specified in our pricing schedule. - Equipment Condition
a. You agree to inspect the equipment before renting it and notify us of any existing damages or issues.
b. Within the first 10 minutes of the rental period, you agree to notify us of any issues that were not apparent during the inspection.
c. You are responsible for returning the equipment in the same condition as it was rented, except for normal wear and tear.
d. You will be liable for any damages, loss, or theft of the equipment during the rental period. - Wear and Tear
a. “Wear and Tear” includes all cosmetic damage, including scratches that do not affect the integrity or functionality of the equipment.
b. Wear and Tear” shall be determined by us at our sole discretion. For clarity, this refers exclusively to damage that goes beyond normal, expected use and can reasonably be considered avoidable, negligent, or intentional.
c. Inclusions: cosmetic damage (paint chips, light scratches, minor dents < 5mm), wear to consumable items that are part of the equipment.
d. Exclusions: cuts, tears, dents, holes, punctures, deep scratches, any other distortion of original shape or form. - Rental Responsibilities
a. You must use the equipment in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic and/or maritime laws, and regulations.
b. The equipment should not be used for any illegal activities, racing, stunts, or any other activity that may cause undue wear on the equipment.
c. You are responsible for any fines, penalties, or legal consequences resulting from your use of the equipment.
d. Subleasing or sub renting of the equipment is prohibited.
e. You should lock/store the equipment securely when not in use and take appropriate measures to prevent theft. - Rental Fees & Payment
a. The renter agrees to pay the rental fee as specified by us.
b. Payment must be made in euros, up-front and in a method accepted by us at the time of payment.
c. Additional charges, such as late fees, damage fees, cleaning, or recovery fees, may be applied if necessary. - Security Deposit
a. A security deposit is mandatory before renting the equipment.
b. The deposit is to be paid in cash only.
c. The security deposit will be refunded to the renter upon the safe and undamaged return of the equipment. - Liability and Insurance
a. You assume all risks and liabilities associated with the use of the equipment during the rental period.
b. We recommend that you have your own personal insurance coverage for accidents, injuries, damages or loss.
c. We are not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage to property arising from the use of the equipment. - Damages/Loss/Theft
a. Failure to return, complete loss, or irreparable damages to the equipment will incur a charge equivalent to the market value of the equipment and accessories at the time of loss.
b. Repairable damages to the equipment and/or accessories will incur a charge for labour (the time taken to make the repairs) and the costs of any parts/services used during the repair process.
c. If you are not physically able to return the equipment due to damages, we will also charge for the retrieval of the equipment and any accessories. - Rental Extension
a. If you wish to extend the rental period, you must contact us in advance and obtain approval.
b. Additional charges may apply for rental extensions. - Cancellation and Refunds
a. Cancellations made up to 24 hours before the beginning of the rental period are eligible for a full refund.
b. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the beginning of rental periods 24 hours or less are not eligible for a refund.
c. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the beginning of rental periods longer than 24 hours are eligible for a 50% refund of the unused days.
d. Cancellations made during the rental period are eligible for a 50% refund of the unused days.
e. Cancellations made during the rental period due to injury (accompanied by a doctor’s certificate or hospital admission form), adverse weather conditions, or force majeure are eligible for a 100% refund of the unused days.
f. No refunds will be provided for late arrivals, late pickups or no-show situations. - Termination of Rental Agreement
a. We reserve the right to terminate the rental agreement at any time for any breach of the rental terms and conditions.
b In the event of termination, the renter must return the equipment to us immediately. - Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the rental company is located. Any disputes arising from these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction. - Miscellaneous
a. These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and us and supersede any prior agreements or understandings, written or verbal, relating to the equipment rental.
b. We reserve the right to amend or modify these terms and conditions at any time, and such changes will be effective upon posting the updated terms on our website or notifying you directly.
c. If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
By renting equipment, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to abide by them.
